DOUBLE SHOT 2 PEDALS INFORMATION
The Crank Brothers Double Shot Pedals might get the name for your non-ride rides. You know, when you go for that double shot of espresso in your sneakers. This is a split personality pedal. One side is a platform for non-cleated footwear. The other side has the same platform dimensions but has a cleat retention system sticking up for those rides when you want to be clipped in.
The platform is big. 90mm long. That’s lots of surface area for when you’re in sneakers, hikers, even dress shoes. But it still shares the same Q-factor, 52mm, as other Crank Brothers pedals. The platform side has spikes for digging into your soft soles. The clipless side has a standard Crank Brothers stainless steel retention system and works with standard Crank Brothers cleats, which are included.
This is a tough pedal. The spindle is 435 chromoly steel, the body A380 aluminum, the wings 17-4PH stainless steel, the spring 300 series stainless steel. As with many of their pedals, the inner bearings are Igus LL-glide bearings and the outer a super-durable and smooth Enduro cartridge bearings. Even with all this material, the pedals weigh only 395g per pair.
In terms of setting up the cleats, know that Crank designed theirs to offer two different release points. Array the cleats one way, and you shoe will release at fifteen degrees. Array the other, and it will release at 20 degrees.
The Crank Brothers Double Shot Pedals give you two faces, one for before your coffee, and one for after.
